Great Lake Optometry welcomes Dr. Thomas Choponis, OD as the newest doctor. Dr. Choponis purchased Great Lakes Optometry from Dr. Matthews in September of 2019. Dr. Choponis is excited to continue to meet the patients at Great Lakes Optometry.
Dr. Choponis plans to have an open house and re-opening for the practice. Details will come.
Dr. Choponis received his Doctorate of Optometry from Ferris State University in 2017 and completed three externships at Cherry Health in Grand Rapids, MI, Wyoming VA Health Care Center in Wyoming, MI, and Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. He has been practicing optometry in the Upper Peninsula since 2017. He is trained in refractive procedures as well as diagnosis and management of eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts. He can also evaluate and fit specialty contact lenses. Dr. Choponis had 10 years of optical experience as an optician before becoming a licensed optometrist. He takes pride in working with people to achieve the best possible vision and ocular health.
Dr. Choponis grew up in Luther, MI and enjoys hobbies such as bicycling, hiking, skiing, and spending time with his wife and daughter. His family moved to Sault Sainte Marie in 2017. Stephanie is a pharmacist that practices primarily in Newberry, MI.
